2006-01-28 - 14:52 Okay, I just grilled a burger. It was a little too red in the middle, so I popped it in the microwave, which has rendered it inedible. Like chewing silicone. Well, them's the breaks. I'm getting ready to start volunteering with the DiverseCity Writing Series (http://www.slcc.edu/wc/community/dws.htm) as a group mentor. Fun shit. DiverseCity sponsors several community writing groups, some are member-specific and some are open. I am going to mentor the group at the GLBTCCU (www.glbtccu.org) They put out a biannual anthology, and every writer gets a piece published. I have to have a piece of writing ready for Wednesday, when I am coming to participate in the group as a writer (this is required before becoming the group's mentor). It can be anything--poetry, prose, whatever--on any topic. I hate that. Sometimes I wish someone would make the decision for me. I have to write a sonnet about toes or something. Maybe I will write a sonnet about toes. The piece I was thinking about is a dialog between Bessie and me about Lee. Lee, for those who don't know, was my first and only girlfriend. Not even girlfriend, really. I never publicly acknowledged the relationship and I wouldn't let it continue because of plain fear. It could be a very interesting piece. I'll let you all know how it goes. I think I'm also going to give my blog address to the group (interesting, since so far I have refused to give my blog address to anyone).
