This silence is driving me crazy. We need some music or something! At the hospital, there was always lots of noise, and I feel like it spurred me into action. Here, it is always quiet, if not perfectly silent. So I sit here and write in my blog.

I'm working on a couple of things for Sine Cera, DiverseCity Writing Series' semi-annual anthology. One is called "Displaced Parent Haiku." I love Haiku. I once heard them described as a snapshot of a moment.

You quote me scripture.

That's always been my favorite one. I did that many, many years ago.

The other thing I'm working on is a confession of a corporate douchebag (I'm not going to call it that, but that's what it is). It talks about panhandlers downtown. I publicly chewed Sheri Harington out in the City Weekly (yes, that letter did get published) for calling them "bums" and "beggars", but I'm as guilty as the next person of looking right through them and muttering something about how I don't have any change. I hate being asked for change as much as Sheri does, but what can I do?

I'm working on it.
